Nationalfahne
Das Grün steht für die Muslime, das Orange für die Hindus. Die vier
Pipul-Blätter sind buddhistische Symbole, während das Schwert und der
Löwe für die Autorität stehen.

Nationalhymne
Nach der Unabhängigkeit entstand das Bedürfnis für eine entsprechende
Nationalhymne als Symbol der Unabhängigkeit. Geschrieben wurde Sri Lanka Matha von Ananda Samarkone in Singhalesi.
Angenommen wurde die Hymne Anfang 1952.
